Then I questioned them about why they can’t just shave the “head” down, which is the round part at the base which jets out causing wedding band to be pushed away from the e-ring setting. They were trying to tell me I had to go with a curved band, drawing attached. ![]() It’s been such an ordeal for me to try to understand why this doesn’t already exist. I’m glad you asked about how to make the two diamonds sit flush. Sorry for the long post! From what I have read, some of you have had your rings for a while and even redesigned/ reset them so tried/tested/true opinions are valuable! I’ve never worn any rings on a daily basis before so my assumptions are based entirely on theory here! This is why I leaned toward a more delicate band on e-ring. and I fear losing them so I don’t want them to feel like they are in the way. ![]() which might increase the likelihood that I might be tempted to take them off throughout the day. I don’t want too much bulk on my hands as I plan on daily wear and I feared that the wider the bands the bulkier it will feel. I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about why there is no 6 prong solitaire setting available that will sit flush with a wedding band!įinally, the ring pictures I am attaching were taken with an in stock ring at the jeweller and my diamond hasn’t been set yet so I can ask for a wider ering band since I’m already paying extra to go custom. (I know completely different! But I like both! Diamond size questions would apply to both!).Īlso, the e-ring design was modified so the wedding band will sit flush with the engagement ring which was a huge ordeal and and we had to go custom. I looked at the Tiffany embrace wedding band which is more of a bezel type setting which is completely different than the prong setting I’ve been looking at which has more of a flat edge around the diamonds: Should I go Tiffany Embrace type band or prong set? I attached the Tiffany Embrace photo. If I am going lower than 10 pointer, should I go 5 pts or 7 pts?ģ. Is 3.5 mm wide 1 carat wedding band (ie 10 x 0.10 ct diamonds) look too wide or disproportionate beside the 2.2 mm wide ering setting?Ģ. I’m not sure why James Allen or blue Nile doesn’t have this low profile individual prong style wedding band.ġ. Is it really that risky to get a shared prong setting? The jewellery store I am working with keep telling me over time people lose diamonds on the shared prong setting and say they are not durable. I saw a shared prong ring that looks very similar on James Allen for almost half the cost. ![]() The diamonds on the top pictured wedding bands have individual prongs. The attached pictures are of the 5 pointer/ 7 pointer / 10 pointer demo rings beside a 2 carat diamond set in a Tiffany style setting. But because a 10 pt diamond set in a prong setting (3.5 mm wide) is much wider than 2.2 mm wide e-ring, I am wondering if it looks off or unsymmetrical beside the setting of the 2 carat e-ring? On the flip side the 2 carat stone can handle 10 pointers! I love the 10 point diamonds side by side which creates a “wall of diamonds” view beside the 2 carat e-ring. Otherwise the setting looks very close to the Tiffany setting. The band on my engagement ring is 2.2 mm wide which is a touch more delicate than the classic 2.5 mm Tiffany set 6 prong. ![]() I read some other threads on similar topics and they were so helpful! I think I narrowed it down to 5 point / 7 point / 10 point diamonds on a half eternity type wedding band (ie 9 or 10 diamonds). I think I am stuck because I looked at rings for way too long over the last few weeks and I would be so grateful for objective fresh eyes to give me some feedback. I am getting a 2 carat 6 prong Tiffany style set engagement ring and I am trying to choose a wedding band.
